Floye Jeanette Ruppe Taylor

Floye Jeanette Ruppe Taylor, 93, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2024. Born January 13, 1931, Jeanette lived a full and vibrant life from beginning to end. She touched the lives of many people along the way.

Jeanette was a devoted wife, mother, teacher and friend. At an early age she loved caring for people. Her love for others led her to pursue a degree in teaching.

She graduated from Appalachian Teachers College in 1951. She gave 31 years of love and interest to the future lives of the children she taught.

There she met the love of her life, Dr. Jesse Lee Taylor. Jesse and Jeanette married June 5, 1949. They lived at several locations in North Carolina and Virginia. When Jeanette wasn't working, you could find her in her church, painting beautiful landscapes or writing stories and poetry. "Teacher I Ain't Got No Pencil" was her self produced autobiography.

Jeanette is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Jesse and her older brother Max Ruppe (Ruth). She is survived by younger brother Myron Ruppe (Ann), daughters Cindy Roberts (Rodney) and Tamara Bird (Terry), and son Jesse Lee Taylor, Jr. (Marie)

Her grandchildren are Jenny Roberts, Alli Roberts Cox (Jeremy), Jesse Lee (Trey) Taylor, III (Teagan), Thomas Taylor (Caitlin), TJ Bird (Bethann), Toby  Bird (Kristen) and Tim Bird. She has eight great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren brought great joy to her life.

The family is holding a funeral service to celebrate Jeanette's life on December 31st 2024, 2 p.m. at Race Path Baptist Church in Ellenboro, NC with Reverend Terry Bird, Reverend Toby Bird and Reverend Randall Cooper officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 2:00pm prior to the funeral. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Eggers Funeral Home of Cliffside, NC is in charge of the North Carolina arrangements. A second celebration of life service will be held at First Baptist Church of Mt. Dora, Florida on January 13, 2025 at 11 a.m.
