Elwin Leland Chapman, Iii

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Elwin Leland Chapman III (Lee), who left us on April 20, 2025 at the age of 48. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and cousin to many. Lee will forever be remembered for his unconditional love, support, and willingness to give.

Born on July 19, 1976 in Spartanburg, SC, Lee grew up in his home town attending Spartanburg High School where he played football. Everyone that knew him knew his love for Clemson football. He would spend every Saturday with his dad watching Clemson play.  Lee was also a very talented artist. He could draw anything. He would hand make our Halloween decorations, and they were often just as good as store bought décor. Every year, our immediate family would haul truckloads of Halloween animatronics and decorations to his son's house and we would spend weeks putting together a haunted trail for his neighborhood. Hundreds of people would come to be a part of this every year. It's our family tradition. The fourth of July was another party Lee and Kim loved to celebrate big. The whole neighborhood, the more the better, would come celebrate with good food, the annual waterslide, jumpy houses, cotton candy, shaved ice, and fireworks. He built a life centered around family, friends, and his love for dogs. Lee graduated college as an IBM engineer and took great joy in his love for the Corso breed and turned that passion into a world known kennel.

Throughout his life, he was a pillar of love, support, and guidance to those around him. Whether through his words, his actions, or his unwavering presence, Lee instilled values—respect, perseverance, generosity in his family and friends. He always had an answer and encouraging words for everything.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kimberly Chapman, three children, Jessica Watters, Christopher Bain (Elizabeth), and Katelind Sims (Justin). He also leaves behind nine grandchildren, Hayden, CJ, Ryan, Knox, Bodhi, Landen, Emerlyn, Declan, and Madisyn Kate. His father, Elwin Leland Chapman Jr. (Renita) and Mother, Candace Seay Chapman, as well as two sisters, Melissa Blumell (David), and Brooke Rasmussen (Dave), and one brother, Kell Chapman. He also leaves many aunts, uncles, and cousins and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A visitation with service being held immediately after, will be Saturday, April 26 at 2:00 at Eggers Funeral Home in Chesnee, SC to honor and celebrate his life.

Although he is no longer with us in body, his spirit and love remain in our hearts forever.
