Elbert Alfred Bishop

Elbert Alfred Bishop, 96, of Mayo, SC went home to be with the Lord on December 27, 2023. He joins his wife of 72 years, Lenora Lee Bishop, who preceded him in death only six days earlier.

Elbert was born July 14, 1927 in Mayo, SC to the late Henry Bishop and Annie Searcy Bishop. He worked 52 years in textiles, where he met his loving wife, until he retired from John H. Montgomery. He was also a member of Buck Creek Baptist Church.

Elbert was a loving husband, father, and "Papa". Elbert is survived by his three children, Randy Bishop (Vickie), Debra Hall (Braxton), Roger Bishop (Sherry). Six grandchildren, Shane Bishop (Megan), Amber Bouknight (Rob), Cori Dill (Brandon), Amanda Bishop, Shannon Wade (Clint), and Andrea High (Ned). He also leaves behind nine great grandchildren who he loved to visit with and entertain, Chloe and Ridge Bishop, Adelaide, Eliette, and Oliver Bouknight, Max Young, Boyd and August Wade, and Marlowe High.

In addition to his parents, Elbert was preceded in death by his brother Furman Bishop and his sisters Cora V. Bishop Lawter and Amojean Bishop Henderson.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00pm on Thursday January 4, 2024 at Buck Creek Baptist Church in Chesnee, SC. Entombment will be at Springhill Memorial Gardens immediately after the service. The family will receive friends at the graveside after the service.
