Edward Thompson

Edward Thompson, 85, of Chesnee, South Carolina, went home to be with the Lord. His beloved wife, Marie, met him at the pearly gates on Tuesday, October 29, 2024.

He was a member of Chesnee First Baptist Church, where he served as the church's deacon, ran the sound system, drove the church bus, and was the preacher's right hand man when they needed him for anything. He had many jobs, including being a farmer, worked at Aero Automotive, Biltmore Dairy, PET Dairy, and finally retiring from Crown Cork and Seal. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father, and grandfather, and even more so he was their friend when in need.

Edward was survived by one brother, BJ Thompson (Ellen Thompson) of Cheyenne, WY; and three children, Donna Marie Mank (Jeffrey Mank) of Kennesaw, GA, Karen Thompson of Chesnee, SC, and Robert Thompson (Rhonda Thompson) of Converse, SC. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Guynel Thompson and family; 5 grandkids Kala (Cameron), Josh (Nicole), Chris (Amanda), Ashton (Kevin), and Jordan; 14 great grandkids, Korbin, Nick, Rylee, Journee, Savannah, Lillian, Emma, Mason, Kanyn, Nicholas, Christian, Aiden, Eden, and Bethanie; as well as Brie (grand dog) and Ace (grand dog). The honorary family members includes Desiree (Doo-Doo), Ira, Austin, Elizabeth, Carson, Lily Mae, Melissa, Nat Nat, Isaiah, Susan, and Katelin, Chip, Bonnie, and Abby.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond (Nancy) and Bobby; and his parents, Claude and Josephine Thompson.

Clearly family meant the world to Edward, who impacted many lives. Whether you were family, or a friend, you held a special place in his heart.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00PM on Friday, November 1, 2024 at Chesnee First Baptist Church, with Dr. Gary Grogan and Rev. George McDowell officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00am until 1:00pm, prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Springhill Memorial Gardens in Chesnee.
