Earl Raymond Mathis

Mr. Earl Raymond Mathis, 86, of Boiling Springs, South Carolina, went home to be with the Lord, October 31, 2024.

Mr. Mathis was born January 22, 1938, in Cherokee County, South Carolina.  He was the son of the late Jesse Mathis and Viola Splawn Mathis. Raymond was married to the late Ruth Marlowe Mathis for sixty-three years. He was a member of Boiling Springs First Baptist Church where he taught the two-year-olds in Sunday School Class for many years.  He enjoyed fishing and listening to music. However, his favorite pastime was attending the sporting events of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory are son, Russell T. Mathis and wife, Pam; brother, Carl Mathis; grandson, Kyle Mathis and wife, Rebecca; granddaughter, Kelsea M. Elder and husband, Trey; grandchildren, Heaton, Henning and Hembree Mathis, and Annieruth and Marlow Elder.

In addition to his wife, and his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, William, John, and Gerald Mathis.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Boiling Springs First Baptist Church conducted by the Reverend Ronnie Cox.

Interment will follow at Boiling Springs First Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Mathis, Trey Elder, Len Elder, Tim Elder, Mike Marlow, and Keith Tutterow.

The family will receive friends at Boiling Springs First Baptist Church on Saturday from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM prior to the funeral service.
