Douglas Wright Underwood

Douglas Wright Underwood, 85, of Chesnee, SC passed away Saturday, May 18, 2024.

Born in Campobello, SC, he was the son of the late Herbert Underwood and Lois Wright Underwood. Douglas was a member of Chesnee First Baptist Church, where he taught men's Sunday School for several years. Douglas was a proud veteran of the US Army, and a member of the American Legion Post 48. He retired from Duke Energy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Audria Tolson; and son-in-law, David Lawter.

Douglas is survived by his loving wife, Linda Emmett Underwood; son, Keith Underwood (Dana); daughter, Monica Lawter; sister, Brenda Horton; four grandchildren, Caleb Nabors, Marissa Lawter, James Underwood, and Sarah Underwood; a niece; and several nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Monday, May 20, 2024 at Eggers Funeral Home of Chesnee.

A funeral service to celebrate Douglas' life will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at Chesnee First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Gary Grogan officiating. Burial will follow at Springhill Memorial Gardens.
