Doris Thelma Lawter

Doris Thelma Lawter, 89, of Boiling Springs, SC, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2023 at her home.

Born in Spartanburg, SC, she was a daughter of the late Buford Solesbee and Bertha Pruitt Solesbee. Doris started volunteering through the American Red Cross/Spartanburg Regional Hospital in November 1972. She volunteered over 25,000 hours, and currently holds the most volunteer hours by an individual. Doris was a member of Northbrook Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Lawter; a sister, Geraldine Solesbee Lawter; and two brothers, James Solesbee and Dean Solesbee.

Doris is survived by her two sons, Gary Lawter (Teresa) and Gregory Lawter (Marie); two sisters, Joyce Green and Shirley Guy (Jimmy); three grandchildren, Shannon Lawter, Brooks Lawter, and Joseph Lawter; five great grandchildren, Bailey, Parker, Olivia, Payton, and Harley; and her special bond with "adopted daughter", Kristen Webber.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 from 1:00pm to 2:30pm at Northbrook Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 2:30pm officiated by Rev. Benny Green. Interment will follow at Good Shepherd Memorial Park.
