Donald Lee White

Greensboro, NC - Donald Lee White, 87, passed peacefully into the Lord's arms on Tuesday, June 3, 2025.

Born in Cliffside, NC he was the son of the late Shirley G. and Ann T. White and brother to the late Laura W. Callahan of Simpsonville, SC.  He was a graduate of the Cliffside High School Class of 1956.  He served two years in the U.S. Army.  He attended Pfeiffer University. Upon graduating he began a long, distinguished career with Penn National Insurance Company.  He was a good Christian man with a deep love for and faith in our Lord, Jesus Christ. He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, Greensboro, NC, and faithfully supported his childhood church, Cliffside United Methodist Church, Cliffside, NC.  He had a great love of family.  He was also blessed to have lots of close friends, many relationships extending all the way back to his childhood days. As a boy he was a Boy Scout.  He loved fishing.  He was very artistic and had a God-given talent for drawing and painting.  He loved music and was an excellent dancer.  He was an avid reader of books on Christianity and history.  He enjoyed his Sunday School class.  He was a wonderful son, brother, uncle and friend.  He is survived by his brother-in-law, Samuel S. Callahan, his niece, Sandra E. Callahan and nephew, Brian S. Callahan and wife, Michelle and their three daughters, Carly, Audrey and the late Taylor Callahan.  Uncle Don's love, devotion, fun spirit, smile, laughter, hugs, and wise council concerning matters of faith, as well as life, will be deeply missed.

A visitation will be held Thursday, June 19, 2025 from 1:00PM-2:00PM at Eggers Funeral Home of Cliffside, NC with the funeral service following at 2:00PM in the A.C. McKinney Memorial Chapel at Eggers Funeral Home of Cliffside, NC with the Pastor Mike Elgin officiating.  Eggers Funeral Home is located at 4076 US Hwy. 221A Cliffside, NC 28024.  Burial will be held at neighboring Cliffside Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
