Devin Scott Shivery

Devin Scott Shivery, age 5, passed away on April 30, 2025. Though his time here was far too short, Devin left an unforgettable mark on the hearts of all who knew him, even those who didn't.

Devin came into this world radiating joy. He was the kind of child who didn't need to speak for people to feel his love; though when he did speak, his words carried a wisdom beyond his years. From the moment he could walk and talk, Devin exuded kindness, strength, and compassion. He gave the kind of hugs you didn't forget. You didn't have to know him long, or at all, to understand he was special. People often said, "He gave the best hugs," and they meant it. It was like his soul wrapped around you.

He was always happy. Truly, deeply, naturally joyful. He laughed easily and often, and rarely cried. He had an unshakable spirit; resilient, gentle, and incredibly brave. Despite being the middle child, he naturally stepped into the role of protector. He watched over his siblings like a little guardian angel in real-time, with a courage that made others feel safe. Devin didn't know fear. He didn't hesitate, he simply did, and helped when help was needed, comforted when comfort was missing, stood up when someone needed a defender.

Devin's heart was big, and full of generosity, tenderness, and empathy. He never had to be asked to help; it was just in his nature. Whether someone was struggling or simply in need of a friend, Devin was always there. He seemed to see people, even at such a young age, in a way that was deep and true.

He was endlessly curious and energetic, always ready to go, to do, to explore. He didn't waste a single minute of the day. Whether he was playing outside, kicking around a football, soccer ball, climbing, running, or simply soaking in nature, Devin lived life wide open. He had a love for the outdoors that couldn't be tamed. Dirt on his hands, sun on his face, wind in his hair; that was Devin in his element.

Beyond all of his energy and adventure, it was his love that defined him. Devin loved deeply and with his whole heart. He loved his family fiercely. He loved his friends genuinely. And he loved life unapologetically. Devin was the kind of child who reminded you what really matters; to be present, to be kind, and to love with your whole heart.

Though Devin's physical presence is gone, his spirit will live on in every act of kindness, every burst of laughter, every carefree run through the grass. He leaves behind a grieving but grateful family, who will forever cherish the beautiful memories and the deep love he gave so freely.

Devin was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Surinder Desor, and Sherbanu Desor.

He is survived by his mother, Erin Shivery, father, Shaam Desor, , brother, Elijah Jaxson Shivery, sister, Maryam Laray Shivery, grandfather, Michael Shivery, grandmother Julia Amling, step-grandfather, Christian Raley, uncles; Patrick, Zediker, Tripp Raley, Austin Raley, Bunty Desor, Kamal Desor, Rajesh Desor, and Ronnie Jeter, aunts; Seema Jeter, and Nisha Petty, along with many cousins, great aunts, and great uncles.

Services will be 6:30pm on Monday, May 5th, at New Life Deliverance Worship Center with Pastor Bunty Desor officiating.

The family will receive friends an hour before the service 5:30-6:30pm at New Deliverance Worship Center.

Committal will be 12:00 pm Tuesday, May 6th, at Fort Prince Memorial Gardens.

The family asks that you honor Devin's memory in the way he lived his life: hug your loved ones tightly, help someone without being asked, and be compassionate, love deeply, fiercely, and without hesitation.
