Darnel "Buster" Petty

Darnel E. "Buster" Petty, 94, of Boiling Springs, SC passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2023.

Born in Spartanburg, SC, he was a son of the late James Darnel Petty and Altie Seay Petty. Buster was a veteran of the US Army. He was a member of Boiling Springs First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and taught the Youth Sunday School Class. Through missionary work, Buster helped build several churches in Brazil. He dearly loved to work on cars and for most his life he worked as an auto mechanic. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Betty Owens Petty; son-in-law, Mickey Johnson; three brothers, Jack Petty, Bill Petty, and Troy Petty; three sisters, Sis Monteith, Ruth Mason, and Bonnie Smith; and granddaughter, Erin Nicole Reece.

Buster is survived by his daughter, Paulette Johnson; sister, Ruby Cox; and three great grandchildren, Addison Reece, Emmalyn Reece, and Mackenzie Reece.

The family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 2:00pm on Friday, February 10, 2023 at Boiling Springs First Baptist Church. A funeral service to celebrate Buster's life will follow at 2:00pm with Dr. Hank Williams and Rev. Bobby Lindsey officiating. Burial will follow at Boiling Springs First Baptist Church Cemetery.
