Daniel Shane Goen

On Sunday, December 24th, 2023, Daniel Shane Goen, also lovingly known as Barney, passed away peacefully after a battle with pneumonia at the age of forty-five. The son of Kevin Goen and Lynn Tolleson Goen, Daniel was born November 27th, 1978. He lived most of his life in Chesnee, South Carolina. For the last five years, Daniel worked as a fork lift driver for Tucker Materials.

Daniel was an avid sports fan. He had an uncanny ability to recount any random sports fact. He could not easily solve math problems or discuss world events, but he could tell you who won the 1972 Super Bowl, the score and stats, and MVP of the game. He was never a fair-weather fan as he was devoted to the Detroit Lions, Indiana Hoosiers, Clemson Tigers, and St. Louis Cardinals whether they won or lost, through good times and bad. Although Daniel was all sports all the time, what he was most known for was his big smile, contagious laugh, goofy disposition, and larger-than-life personality. He was truly a friend to all, had a heart of gold, and brought so much joy to everyone blessed to know him. Daniel's sense of humor was unmatched and often left people in stitches. You could not be around Daniel and be in a bad mood.

Daniel was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Bill Tolleson, his paternal grandparents, Glenn and Barbara Knight, and aunt and uncle, Butch and Imogene Tolleson. He is survived by his mother, Lynn Tolleson Goen, his father, Kevin Goen (Mona), sister, Aimee Price (Shane), nephews, Greyson and Liam Price, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Family will be celebrating Daniel's beautiful life with a receiving of friends on Saturday December 30, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. followed by a service led by his best friend, Kris Guy in the Eggers Funeral Home Chapel.
