Curtis B Farmer Jr.

Curtis B. Farmer, Jr., 80, of Mooresboro, N.C. crossed the finish line April 25, 2024.  Curtis was born in Newberry, S.C. to his late parents Nora and Curtis B. Farmer, Sr. He was a Navy veteran and served from 1960 - 1964. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Eddie Farmer.

Curtis could be defined as 'the man, the myth, the legend'.  He had stories many people would not believe and a life well lived. We will keep telling those stories and laughing as long as we can. Have you heard about the alligators in Lake Bowen? We know where they came from.

The list of people impacted by his love, good heart, and knowledge could fill a book. They all know their lives were changed and made better by his influence and will miss him every day. Thankfully, the memories and lessons taught are lifelong.

From coaching cross country at USCS, being a crew member for the Dick Brooks racing team, playing tennis, slalom water skiing, snow skiing, scuba diving and free diving, swimming, horseback riding, numerous triathlons, and the completion of six Iron Man races Curtis could attempt and conquer any sport. His last Iron Man was at the age of 75 in Arizona which qualified him for the world championship in Hawaii.

He had a strong love for the island of Bimini, Bahamas. For almost six decades he made many trips, caught many lobsters, made a lot of rum punch, and spread the love of the island to everyone he took. Bimini had a special place in his heart and was a place of good times and good memories.

Curtis owned Commercial Glass in Shelby, N.C. for 38 years. His faithful employees will miss him greatly as he recently retired from the business.

He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Hope Farmer, and four daughters, Tracy Joyner (Ted), Porsche Faile (Mark), Sonya Fore, and Andrea Powell (Derrick).  He was blessed with eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. He is also survived by four brothers, Rickie, Mickey, Lester, and Carol Farmer and one sister, Shirley Neal. He had friends that turned into family in a lot of people- you know who you are.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm in the A.C. McKinney Memorial Chapel at Eggers Funeral Home of Cliffside, NC on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. Receiving of friends will take place from 1:00pm to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service.
