In Loving Memory of Colel Henry Fowler

April 12, 1944 – July 17, 2026

On Friday, July 17, 2026, Henry Fowler, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at the age of 82. Henry was born in Gaffney, South Carolina, and resided in Boiling Springs before passing away in the compassionate care provided by Spartanburg Regional Hospice House.

On May 21, 1982, Henry married his wife, Dorothy Mae Fowler. Henry and Dorothy loved spending time with family, along with going fishing, playing bingo, and watching westerns. While Henry was living his life to the fullest with family and hobbies, you could always catch him enjoying an ice-cold Pepsi.

Henry leaves behind his loving wife of 44 years, Dorothy Mae Fowler; daughter-in-law, Tonya Gail Johnston; granddaughter, Summer Renee Athan (Jerry Thomas Athan); grandson, Jesse James Johnston, Jr. (Lauren Ann Johnston); great-granddaughter, Jade Renae Johnston; niece, Lisa Fowler; sister, Hazel Fowler Huckabee; along with several other family members that share fond memories of him.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha B. Fowler Hefner; father, Miles Fowler; brothers, Loyd Lee Fowler and Arthur Eugene Fowler; sister, Patricia Fowler Melton; son, Jesse James Johnston, Sr.; and great-grandson, Jaxen Dominic Athan.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 23, 2026 at 1:00pm at Eggers Funeral Home, located at 815 South Alabama Avenue, Chesnee, SC 29323. Henry's service will immediately follow, beginning at 2:00pm.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to caregivers at Spartanburg Regional Hospice House, as well as his nurses at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, for their compassion and support.

Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we take comfort in the memories, love, and legacy that Henry leaves behind. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
