Clifford Columbus Fowler

Clifford C. Fowler, 91, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, January 9, 2026, surrounded by family. Born on February 15, 1934, he was a son of the late Essie Jones Fowler and James Franklin Fowler.

Clifford was a United States Navy Veteran, proudly serving aboard the U.S.S. Salem Flagship. He was also a trained fireman, military police officer, and worked at the Navy Yard.

Clifford had a strong work ethic which was passed along to his children. He was gruff but fair and was always quick to lend a helping hand when needed.

He loved hunting and "grabbling," better known as noodling. He truly enjoyed lazy summer afternoons spent at the river with family and friends.

Clifford is survived by his devoted wife of 69 years, Bertha Powell Fowler; his children: Donnie Fowler of Cooley Springs, Dora Fowler Jackson of Spartanburg, Mark Fowler (Samantha) of Rutherfordton, and Alvin Fowler (Regina) of Chesnee; his grandchildren, Beth Nelson (Brandon), Hannah Chekmasov (Andrey), Amanda Edwards (Cory), Marshall Jackson (Samantha), Cory Jackson (Kelsey),  Sara Fowler, Clifton Fowler, and Alisha Suon (Sammy);  his great-grandchildren: Bo and Baylor Nelson, Samuel and Grace Chekmasov, Piper and Reece Gosnell, Gabriel, Jayden, and Brandon Jackson, Davis Jackson, and Alyce Cook.

He is also survived by his siblings: Frances Kelley, Joyce Pearson (Lloyd), Barbara Moss, Patricia Fowler, and Kathy Griffin. Clifford also leaves behind his constant and loyal companion, Little Bit.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Eggers Funeral Home Chapel of Boiling Springs officiated by Rev. Dr. David Lancaster. Interment will follow at Good Shepherd Memorial Park in Boiling Springs.

Pallbearers will be Cory Edwards, JC Fowler, Sonny Fowler, Cory Jackson, Dennis Jackson, and Jimmy Parris.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM, one hour prior to the service in the chapel.
