Claudia D Ledbetter-Hines

Claudia Ledbetter-Hines, 78, fell peacefully into the arms of Jesus on January 26, 2025.  She was born October 11, 1946 to parents Edith Edwards Ledbetter and Ralph Sparrow Ledbetter.  She was predeceased by her parents along with a very special Aunt, Betty Johnson, who played a special role in her life.

Claudia is survived by her husband Barry Hines, and cousins, who were like her siblings, Chuck Johnson (Debi), Phyllis Moery, Kelli Johnson and Kerri Russell (John).  To them, Claudia was more than family—she was a sister in every way.  She is also survived by special cousins Dennis Edwards and Brenda Ball (Danny) along with a host other family members and friends who loved her dearly.

A graduate of Byrnes High School, Claudia went on to attend Spartanburg Technical College before beginning her long career with the Spartanburg County Planning Commission. With an encyclopedic knowledge of Spartanburg County's roads, she became a respected professional in her field. Her colleagues deeply admired her expertise, and her retirement in 1995 left a lasting void.

Claudia and Barry were married on July 27, 1990. and together they shared nearly 35 wonderful years of love, laughter, and companionship.  Family and friends were at the center of Claudia's life. She never missed a birthday, holiday, wedding or milestone, and her presence made every gathering more special.  Whether it was a planned celebration or a casual family hangout, Claudia was always there, bringing love and laughter.

Though she was unable to have children of her own, Claudia had a unique gift for making every child feel special.  Her home became a haven, whether it was for a day or an entire summer.  She would take them on adventures to the lake, shopping, camping, on vacations, on dates and even to the prom a time or two, but not without enlisting their help to tidy up the house.  Every moment spent with Claudia was filled with excitement and adventure, and she made sure there was never a dull moment.

Despite facing numerous challenges in her life including over 40 surgeries beginning at the young age of 16, Claudia faced every challenge head on with strength, resilience and a positive spirit.  She never let anything get her down and she fought like a warrior. To look at her, you would see a picture of health that never seemed to age   She lived life to the fullest and made the best of every situation.  She passed that positive attitude on to everyone in her life, as she was a pillar of strength and the voice of reason. Claudia lived her life by Matthew 19:26 "With God all things are possible", and she would encourage everyone to do the same.

A memorial service will be held on February 3, 2025 at Eggers Funeral Home, 195 Rainbow Lake Rd, Boiling Springs, SC 29316.  Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM, followed by the service at 1:00 PM.  Burial will be private.
