Charles Richard “Rick” Wyatt

On the evening of October 16, 2024, at home and surrounded by his family, Rick Wyatt was called to his Heavenly home after a long battle of CTE dementia.

Rick was born January 16, 1958, to the late Patty Wysor and Burl Wyatt in Honaker, Virginia.

Surviving him are his wife, Rebecca "Becky" Wyatt of the home, son Tyler Richard Wyatt of Anderson and daughter Lauren Elizabeth Wyatt of Spartanburg.  Four grandchildren, Alexis Wyatt-Lyles of NJ, Brooklyn Wyatt-Owens of Spartanburg, Xavier Jose Lyles, Jr., of NJ and Jovi Wyatt Taylor of Spartanburg.  He was predeceased in death by a daughter, Farrah Marie Wyatt.

Rick was happiest at Clemson supporting his Tigers, fellowshipping with Becky and the family along with football brothers, friends and their families.

After a successful high school football career at Honaker High School, Rick was recruited in 1976 by Clemson where he was a 4-year letterman, member of the Block C Letterman Club, a lifelong member of IPTAY and the Sigma Nu Fraternity.

After graduating from Clemson with both an undergraduate and Master's degree, Rick had a successful career in the transportation business working many years for Spartan Express and Viking in several executive level positions, as Vice President with Service Express and later with SCDOT.  Additionally, he was also a business adjunct professor at Clemson and Spartanburg Community College.

Rick was a member of Central United Methodist Church, Spartanburg, for 33 years having served on numerous committees and volunteer roles.

In addition to Rick's immediate family he was survived by his sister, Elizabeth Wyatt of Spartanburg and a brother, David Wyatt of Cedar Bluff, Virginia, his mother-in-law Carol Faucette of Union, sister-in-law Joye Dillard (Hugh) of Fountain Inn, brothers-in-law Norman Faucette (Penny) of Houston, TX, and David Faucette of Union, SC.  Surviving also, niece Kara Wyatt Rasnake of Cedar Bluff, VA.  Nephews, Nathaniel Faucette of Savannah, GA, Patrick & Samuel Faucette of Houston, TX, Mason Dillard (Lauren) of Easley, SC and Grant Dillard (Alex) of Fountain Inn, SC.  Great nieces, Keeli Parker and Natalie Dillard and great nephews Cole Rasnake and Dillon Faucette.   A special Godson, Rex Varn, Jr of Fort Mill, SC.  Predeceasing him were father-in-law James Faucette, and niece Carrie Faucette.

The family would like to thank Dr. Jujuwala and his staff for their care during Rick's illness.  Also, the wonderful caregivers from Agape Hospice in his final days.    To all those friends, family and neighbors who brought food, visited, sent cards and called, it was so appreciated.

A celebration of life will be held in the sanctuary of Central United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 21, 2024,  with the Rev. Cam Treece officiating.  Family visitation will follow in the fellowship hall.
