Charles Debnam Maynard Jr.

Charles Debnam Maynard Jr., 88, of Raleigh, NC, passed away peacefully October 21, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born December 12, 1935, to the late Charles Debnam and Olive Lewis Maynard.

Charles grew up in the Raleigh community, graduated from Broughton H.S., attended North Carolina State University and served in the Navy Reserve. He was a member of the staff at Saint Augustine's University working in the Finance and Administrations Office for 23 years. Never being one to remain idle, Charles began his second career in 1999 with Ramada by Wyndham, where he contributed to their success for 20 years until his second retirement in 2019.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife Judith Kay Horton Maynard, and his brother Edward Lewis Maynard. Charles and Judith were married for 62 years and set an example for a love grounded in faith and service. Charles is survived by his children Jane M. Lee (Danny), Susan M. King (Dennis), Charles D. Maynard (Suzanne); and grandchildren Maggie Lee (Daniel), Morgan Lee (Sinai), Adam Lee, Hunter Lee, Olivia King, Taylor M. Collier (Trevor), and Charles "Chase" Maynard; and great grandchildren Blake Collier and Peyton Collier.

Charles will be remembered for his kindness and his tireless and giving spirit. He was always willing to help others without consideration for himself. He loved his wife and family unconditionally and set the example for all who had the privilege to know him and love him in return.

The family will gather for a private service on November 9, 2024 to honor and celebrate Charles' and Judith life at Eggers Funeral Home, 815 South Alabama Avenue, Chesnee, SC.
