Cecil Brown, Jr.

Cecil A. Brown, age 80, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2023, at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.

Mr. Brown was born August 3, 1942 in Union, SC to the late Cecil A. Brown and Dolly Williford Brown.  Cecil graduated from Union High School in 1960.  He played basketball and football and lettered in both.  He was inducted into Union High School Hall of Fame in September of 2010.  Mr. Brown attended Spartanburg Methodist College and was a US Navy Veteran.  Mr. Brown was a member of Morningside Baptist Church.

Mr. Brown retired from K-Mart and then retired again from his dream job, he said, with the Sports Department at Dorman High School, Spartanburg District 6.

He was the heart of his family and always put them first.  He had a wicked sense of humor which always made someone's day and had a kind heart and a joyful spirit that he loved to share with others.  Everyone he met was greeted with a smile and he never met a stranger.  His laughter, generosity of spirit and love of life will be missed by many.  He lived his life to the fullest.

His favorite past times were playing basketball, which he played until he was fifty-eight, yard sales, flea markets, hunting and food.

He is survived by his beloved wife of fifty- nine years, Connie Sumner Brown; two daughters, Nicole "Nikki" Brown Hill (Brian Coffey) of Boiling Springs,  Katelyn Brown (Chris De Voss) of Union, granddaughter, Jessie Burchard (Mason) of Inman; brother, Rev. Ralph Brown (Janie) of Jonesville; three nieces and one nephew; and a cousin, Lib Williford, who was like a sister.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Scott A. Brown.

No service is planned at this time per Mr. Brown's Request.  A Celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
