Broughton Lee Henson

Broughton Lee Henson, age 86 of Mooresboro, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at The Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills in Forest City, NC. He was born November 20, 1939 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Obe Henson and the late Dezzie Hines Henson. Broughton was a lifelong member of Goodes Creek Baptist Church and was dedicated to taking his children to church while his wife Mary Lou was working. He loved to travel to the mountains and was an avid UNC Tar Heels basketball fan. Broughton will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and brother.

Broughton is survived by his wife Mary Lou Henson, daughter Kim Wilson (Roger), son Kevin Henson (Regina), grandchildren; Whittney, Caleb, Matt, Ryan and Jessie, great grandchildren; Addisyn, Easton, Luke, Maddux and Mia and one special nephew Barry Guffey.

In addition to his parents, Broughton was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at Goodes Creek Baptist Church of Mooresboro, NC. The funeral service will follow at 2:00pm in the sanctuary with Reverend Dale Welch officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Goodes Creek Baptist Church. Eggers Funeral Home of Cliffside, NC is serving the family.
