Boyce Barnard Shumake

Boyce Barnard Shumake, 76, of Gaffney, SC, passed away Sunday, September 3, 2023.

Born in Statesville, NC, he was a son of the late J.C. Shumake and Floye Madge Stallings Shumake. Boyce proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked at York Construction for over 25 years. Boyce dearly loved his family, and he worked hard to take care of his family. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Priscilla Ruth Blake Shumake; and a brother, Gerald Shumake.

Left to cherish Boyce's memory are his two daughters, Tonya Beaty (Chris) and Angie Shumake; son, Todd Boyter (Lisa); sister, Paulette Fowler (Lewis); brother, Terry Godfrey (Tammy); eight grandchildren, Brittany Oxendine (Travis), Amber Thomas (Michael), Kristen McAbee (Jeff), Haley Garrison (Josh), Hannah Peek (Daniel), Brooke Chesher (Hunter), Todd Boyter, Jr. (Norma), and Tyler Boyter (Ashley); and thirteen great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 11:00am to 12:00pm on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Eggers Funeral Home of Chesnee. A graveside service will follow at 12:30pm at Good Shepherd Memorial Park with military honors.
