Billy Paul Holland

Billy Paul Holland, age 87, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at the Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills. He was born July 3, 1937 to Melvin Holland and Pansy Watts. He lived in Ellenboro, NC for most of his life. Over the years he owned and operated gas stations in Ellenboro and worked for the Town of Ellenboro as well. He loved landscaping and planting flowers, whether for the town or at home. You could find him mowing grass almost any day of the week, except Sunday. He spent Sundays at Victory Baptist Church in Ellenboro where he sang in the choir and also sang specials. He loved his church. In addition to this, he loved playing softball most of the year when he was younger. In his later years, you could catch him watching baseball, wrestling, Westerns, or NASCAR.

He is survived by one son, Darrin Holland of Ellenboro, NC. He grew up in a large family of siblings and step-siblings. He was preceded in death by seven sisters and four brothers, he was the last of them. He also had fifteen nephews and twelve nieces.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 1, 2024 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm at Eggers Funeral Home of Cliffside, NC. The funeral service will follow at 3:00pm in the A.C. McKinney Memorial Chapel at Eggers Funeral Home of Cliffside, NC with Reverend Johnny McCarty officiating. Eggers Funeral Home of Cliffside, NC is serving the family.
