Betty Ann Truitt

Betty Truitt, age 92, passed away on July 17, 2025 at home at Pleasant
View, Rutherfordton NC.She was born October 31, 1932 in Bellmore, NY and went to Wellington C
Mepham High School where she met her sweetheart and in 1954 married
George Truitt who soon was in the Navy. They lived in East Islip prior to
moving to Shelter Island in 1977. Her long career was in bank accounting,
loved the outdoors boating and the beach, her many (14-17!) Bloodhound
dogs during her life, and she volunteered in Mashomack Preserve and
Nature Conservancy, and supported others in Palm Coast, FL and North
Carolina, a lifetime traveller but she chose Alaska mostly and her home
was filled with bears and bloodhounds.

Beloved relatives who predeceased her: husband: George Truitt; sisters:
Ruth Hagan and Lorraine Jabkowski, sister-in-law Carol (Truitt) Rollman
and husband, Jim; Nieces BillieSue nee Jabkowski and Theresa Rollman.
Also, surviving nephews and nieces: (Hagan) Bill (wife Linda), Thomas and
Daniel; (Jabkowski) Glenn; (Truitt) Valerie, Lesley and son Cary Thomason;
(Rollman) Mark (wife Janice) sons Shane, Eli (Tracy/daughter Mila) and Lisa
(husband Barry) son Ryan and daughters Ashton and Skyler.
