Betty Charles Smith

Ms. Betty Charles Smith, age 92, of Spartanburg, SC, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, December 7, 2024.

Ms. Smith was born April 28, 1932, in Spartanburg, SC, a daughter of the late Issac Newton Charles and Ethel Kimbrell Charles. Betty lived a life rich in faith, family and service.  In her younger years, she was an active member of Boiling Springs First Baptist Church, where she dedicated her time to tending the nursery, serving with kindness and grace.  Her unwavering faith guided her throughout her life

Betty found immense joy in her family, always making them her top priority.  As a devoted homemaker, she created a warm and loving environment for her family, instilling values of kindness and compassion where countless cherished memories were made.  Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her family to anyone fortunate enough to know her.

An avid gardener, Betty found peace and purpose when tending to her flowers.  Her garden was a reflection of her soul-vibrant, nurturing and full of life. She took pride in every bloom, sharing her love of nature with all who visited.  Her love for the sun and beach was well-known among her family and friends, and she often spoke of the happiness she found enjoying the outdoors and in the pleasures of life.

Her greatest joy, however, came from her grandchildren, whom she adored and cherished deeply. Betty's legacy of love and warmth will continue to live on through them, as well as through the many lives she touched with her kindness and generosity.

Surviving are daughter, Debbie Atkins (Mike); son, Randall Smith (Mandy); grandchildren: Cory Atkins (Jen), Brent Atkins (Katie), Sydney Payne (Ross) and seven great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Wallace Harold Smith, Jr.

Our family would like to extend a heartfelt gratitude to her dedicated caregivers while she resided at White Oak at Northgrove whose compassion, patience and unwavering support brought comfort and peace during her time there.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm on Monday, December 16, 2024, at the Boiling Springs First Baptist Church Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Dr. Ronnie Cox.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made to the American Heart Association, In her memory.
