Betty Presnell Cook, 82, of Spartanburg, South Carolina, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at her home. She was the beloved wife of the late Roy H. Cook, with whom she shared 56 wonderful years of marriage.
A native of Boiling Springs, Betty was a daughter of the late Frank and Mary Ann Grave Presnell. She retired from BMG Corporation, where she worked as an order checker, and was a member of Green Point Baptist Church.
Betty found joy in the simple pleasures of life and, above all, in the people who shared them with her. She was an enthusiastic participant in Silver Sneakers at the YMCA and later at Trinity Health & Fitness Club, where she treasured the fellowship and many friendships she formed. She was also a cherished member of the Queen Bees and the Bingo Buddies. Betty loved watching and feeding birds and had a special passion for growing and propagating flowers, particularly sunflowers. She will be remembered for her unwavering kindness, her generous spirit, and the lasting impression she made on those fortunate enough to know her.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Pamela Cook of Cowpens; her daughter, Mary Alice Dillard of Taylors; her sister, Willene Knight of North Augusta; four grandchildren, Justin L. Cook, Oliva D. Cook, Phillip K. Dillard, and Gabe M. Cook; and one great-granddaughter, Hadleigh G. Cook.
In addition to her husband and parents, Betty was preceded in death by two sons, Bruce A. Cook and Randall H. Cook; four brothers, Leonard, J. D., Robert, and Boyce Presnell; and five sisters, Ruth Ellis, Obera Wallin, Essie Greene, Juanita Greene, and Frankie Robertson.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 20th, 2026, from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Eggers Funeral Home, 195 Rainbow Lake Road, Boiling Springs, South Carolina.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 21st, 2026, at Green Point Baptist Church, 1390 Rainbow Lake Road, Inman, South Carolina, officiated by the Rev. Dr. David Lancaster. Lunch will follow service. Private family interment will be held at Springhill Memorial Gardens in Chesnee, South Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the benevolence fund of the donor’s home church or to Spartanburg Shares in Betty’s memory.
