Barry Charles Lytle

Barry Charles Lytle, 67, of Spartanburg, South Carolina, passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, surrounded by family. Born in Spartanburg, South Carolina on October 19, 1958, he was a son of the late Melvin Charles Lytle and Betty Mabry Lytle.

Barry served for over 20 years as the Deputy Director of the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commission of Spartanburg. He was a graduate of Cowpens High School and received a bachelors degree from Wofford College. Barry was of the Baptist faith.

A gifted actor and director, Barry was well known for his excellence on stage and behind the scenes. He appeared in and directed many plays with both Wofford College and the Spartanburg Little Theatre. Barry was also an avid Clemson Tigers football fan and Atlanta Braves fan. The greatest joys of his life were his niece and nephews, with whom he enjoyed spending time.

He is survived by sister, Denise Lytle Cozzoli and husband, Tom; brother, Dana Lytle, and wife, Michelle; niece, Lauren Lytle McClure and husband, Andy; nephews, Mason Lytle, Lane Lytle, and Drake Foster, and wife, Cayce; and great-niece and great-nephew, Mellie and Will McClure. Barry was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 11:30 AM in the Chapel of Eggers Funeral Home of Boiling Springs, conducted by Rev. Miriam Mick and Rev. David Ervin. A private family burial will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Mason Lytle, Lane Lytle, Drake Foster, Phillip Hudson, Jack Mabry Jr., and Tommy Lytle.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 11:30 AM, prior to the service at the funeral home.
