Annie Laura Putnam Rice

Mrs. Annie Laura Putnam Rice, age 79, went home to be with the Lord Friday, July 19, 2024.

Mrs. Rice was born September 12, 1944, in Anderson, SC, a daughter of the late James Robert Putnam, and Elizabeth Wood Putnam.  She loved her church, Beaumont Baptist and retired as a social worker.  She and her late husband, Richard Russell Rice were married for 44 years.  She loved him, her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren immensely. She was very active, and her hobbies included participating in theatre, painting, reading, gardening, bird watching, and collecting jewelry.  She enjoyed vacationing at the beach and the mountains with family. The Clemson Tigers were her favorite team. She had a special cat, Bullet.

Surviving are daughter, Julie Bradley (Scott), son, Robert Rice (Joy); sister, Maxine Strickland (Bill); granddaughters, Heather Humphries (Austin), and Judy Rice; grandson, Michael "Mikey" Bradley; great-grandchildren, Naomi Humphries, and Liam Humphries; nieces, Suzanne Judy (Leigh), Will Strickland, and Mark Putnam; and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband she was predeceased by a brother, Ted Putnam.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, in the Chapel of Eggers Funeral Home with the Rev. John Lee officiating. Interment will follow at Good Shepherd Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Michael "Mikey" Bradley, Austin Humphries, Will Strickland, Leigh Judy, and Cason Judy.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
