Alpha Mae Mckinney

Mrs. Alpha Mae Brock McKinney, 92, of Mayo, SC passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2022. She was born on January 31, 1930 to the late Columbus Lenza Brock and Mary Holcomb Brock.

Mrs. McKinney was a member of Mayo Baptist Church. Many have been the recipients of her hand painted Santas, and handmade quilts, lovingly made for family members on momentous occasions such as weddings and births of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her family will always remember her delicious homecooked meals and the time they spent together gathered around the table. She was known as "Nana" to her family and was the very best grandmother to her 4 grandchildren. She taught them all about life in the country and many life lessons. Later she was called "Big Nana" to her 4 great grandchildren and spent as much of her time with them as possible, while her daughter Lynne became known as "Little Nana" to all.

She is survived by her daughters, Lynne McKinney Falatok (Andy) of Spartanburg, SC, and Kaye McKinney Miller (Jim) of Charlotte, NC; granddaughter, Lindsay Miller Socha (John) of Houston, TX; grandsons, Christopher J. Falatok (Meghan) of Spartanburg, David A. Falatok (Angie) of Daniel Island, SC, and James D. Miller IV, of Winston Salem, NC; great grandchildren, Caroline, Carter, Will, and Mae Falatok; and numerous nieces and nephews.

As the last surviving member of her immediate family, she was predeceased by her parents, Columbus and Mary Brock, her husband, Luke McKinney, and sisters and brothers-in-law, Lucille Jernigan (Lawrence), Lib Harmon (Russell), Josephine Phillips (Middy), Shirley Evans (Bennett), and Gail Davis (Joe); and brother and sister-in-law, Robert Brock (Barbara).

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00AM on Monday, January 2, 2023 at Mayo Baptist Church, with Rev. Preston Edmonds and Rev. Tyler Estes officiating. Interment will be at Springhill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service.

Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Royster, Vince McKinney, Tommy McKinney, Joey Davis, Tony McKinney, Barry McKinney, and Hank Evans.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mayo Baptist Church, 190 Mayo Rd., Mayo, SC 29368; Mobile Meals of Spartanburg, 419 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29302; or St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Nana, we can't thank you enough for all the blessings you have given to our family of your time, talents, and guidance! All of your family have been the recipients of your priceless gifts and we are so very grateful.
