Alfreida Kaye Mcelyea

Alfreida Kaye Hussey McElyea, 83, of Kernersville, NC, passed away Friday, July 18th, 2025.

Born in Dyer County, TN, on March 8, 1942, she was the daughter of the late George Alfred Hussey and Kathryn Chitwood Hussey. She moved with her mother to Colorado in 1958. There she met her husband of 63 years, James McDonald McElyea Jr. Alfreida graduated East High School class of 1960. She was a charter member of First Southern Baptist Church of Northglenn, Colorado.

Mrs. McElyea is survived by her three children, Tim McElyea (Becky), Anita Birkland (Bradley), and Debbi Ware (Jeff); two brothers, George L. Hussey (Jan) and Bob E. Hussey (Katherine); seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, James McDonald McElyea, Jr.

A memorial service to celebrate Alfreida's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 26, 2025, in the Chapel of Eggers Funeral Home of Boiling Springs.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

There will be a family dinner following the service.
