Important news and events involving Eggers Funeral Homes.
4/23/2016 - In Memory of Rev. John B. Eggers, Jr.
Betty Eggers and the Eggers family would like to thank everyone for their prayers, kind words, and support this past week. Our community lost a great man of God, servant, and friend to everyone he met. Though John’s passing has and continues to be difficult for each of us, we have peace in knowing that he is now enjoying his eternal home with his Savior.
John and Betty have dedicated themselves to serving our community through funeral service for over 20 years thus far, assisting countless families and leaving fond memories of John and Betty with each of us. One man’s mission lived out to his very end.
John loved his wife, his church, his church family, the funeral profession, his staff but above all, his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He will be greatly missed and most remembered for his charm, charisma, witty sense of humor and his constant compassion and encouragement shown to others.
His presence will undeniably be missed at our offices. Betty and our family of staff know that the best way we can honor his great legacy of service and compassion is to continue his work of helping our neighbors through the funeral homes that continue to bear the Eggers name.
3/3/2016 - Eggers Funeral Home of Cliffside is Now Open
Cliffside, NC. — There are many advantages to living in a smaller community, but there are certain features every town must have to maintain its identity, and a local funeral home is one of them. “Funerals are a local event; the whole purpose of a funeral is to bring people together to share grief and to lend mutual support, which can not be done if the funeral has to be held in a neighboring community.” says John Eggers.
The community of Cliffside has been without a local funeral home since the state of North Carolina closed the McKinney-Landreth & Carroll Funeral Home for violation of state funeral rules and laws. John and Betty Eggers have purchased the firm and have initiated the steps to return the funeral home to its previous position of respect and local pride.
The Eggers family operates two funeral homes in the nearby communities of Boiling Springs and Chesnee in South Carolina. Says John, “When you come to Eggers, we have one goal: to create an affordable service that suits the needs of the individual family.” The Eggers Funeral Homes have a reputation for ethics, integrity, fair pricing and quality service. Continues John Eggers, “In many ways, this is a homecoming of sorts for my wife, Betty, and I as we are both North Carolina natives.” Adds Betty; “Our greatest rewards come from helping families during a difficult time and being active in the communities we serve. We look forward to supporting this community as well.”
Fortunately, the actual facility is in very good condition and will require only some minimal refurbishing to meet the Eggers’ standard. But realizing how important it is for Cliffside residents to have the services of a local funeral home, the new Eggers Funeral Home of Cliffside is already open and available to serve families.
One of the most important services a funeral home can offer a family is the knowledge that their loved one will be treated with the care and dignity they deserve. When cremation is preferred, many funeral homes must transfer the deceased to an independent company for cremation services. The Eggers Funeral Home operates its own crematory, which means your loved one never leaves their care. From the time the Eggers family takes custody, the deceased will remain in their care through out the funeral process. The peace of mind of the families they serve is so important to the Eggers; they offer the same caring service for pets. States Betty Eggers, “We understand pets are family too.”
John Eggers, his wife Betty, and Bill Noble, Director of Operations, will be directly involved in the services for every family served. John Eggers and Bill Noble each hold South Carolina and North Carolina Funeral Director Licenses, and Betty has already begun the process of obtaining her North Carolina funeral license. Further, all three are Certified Crematory Operators. “We are also very pleased some staff members from the McKinney-Landreth era will be joining the new firm, including Carol Hawkins, Rodger Godfrey, Gregg Hawkins, and Mr. Horton Landreth,” notes Bill Noble.
According to John and Betty Eggers, “One of the most important career decisions a professional Funeral Director can make today is whether to be an independent, family-owned funeral home or a large funeral corporation. A family-owned funeral home has only one priority, to serve the community and the families that live there, without concern for stockholders, corporate staff members, and excessive overhead. This is the reason we pursued a career in funeral service and our primary reason for investing in the Cliffside funeral home. We believe in the importance of the funeral and providing the highest standards of our profession to the residents in smaller communities.”
Over the years, many local families pre-arranged and pre-paid funeral services with the McKinney-Landreth & Carroll Funeral Home. The North Carolina Funeral Board has replaced any missing funds. Every individual’s pre-need account has been made whole. All pre-need funds will be directly invested in state approved financial institutions either as insurance policies specially developed for pre-funding funeral arrangements, or in bank trust accounts. In either case, these trust funds and insurance policies will remain intact. Every family with a pre-need on account at the new Eggers Funeral Home of Cliffside will receive a letter confirming their pre-arrangements.
“The staff and I appreciate your confidence in us and know what an important decision this was for you. It is important that you know that your decision to plan ahead was a smart decision and that you will not lose a single dollar of your investment,” explains John Eggers, Co-Owner of the Eggers Funeral Home in Cliffside.
