| Obituary: |
George Edgar Brown, 87, formerly of 5881 Chesnee Highway, Chesnee, died at White Oak Estates Nursing Home Tuesday, November 17, 2009. He was the husband of the late Virginia Anne Davis Brown and the son of the late George Walker and Pauline Foster Brown. He was a member of Chesnee United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post #48 of Chesnee. Mr. Brown was a former co-owner of Powdercraft Corporation and served with the 13th Airborne Unit in World War II and the Korean War.
He is survived by one daughter, Libby Hodan and husband, John of Arden, NC; two grandsons, James Arthur Hodan and Timothy Edgar Hodan of Arden, NC; and one brother, Kenneth Moore Brown of Chesnee. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Hannah Brown Hollifield, twin sister, Mary Edna Brown and Sara Elizabeth Brown Painter and by one brother, William Judson Brown.
The family will receive friends Thursday, November 19, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Eggers Funeral Home of Chesnee.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 20, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Chesnee United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lee Roper and the Rev. Morris Hollifield officiating. Interment will follow in Springhill Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chesnee United Methodist Church, 409 Kentucky Ave., Chesnee, SC 29323.
